Whoa! That's a great shot from an airplane window! City planning at work. I can see the industrial zones, the residential zones, not enough greenspace to suit my taste though.
No its the Century Freewzy/Pasadena Freeway exchange west of downtown LA.
Note: If it is a clear day, and you are coming (with friends) to LA from LAX, take the carpool late from the Century to the Pasadena freeway. As you come upto the top of the mix and swing left (east) toward downtown -- you have the most amazing view of downtown all the way to the mountains east of Pasadena. Lovely view -- but it has to be a clear day and more than 2 people in the car!) Just a "notice the beauty" moment.
